We are a Christian Language Institute that teaches English as a tool and method for ministering the Gospel to Korean children. We use Christian curriculum in both our kindergarten and institute programs. We also use children’s Bible songs and Bible verses in every class. Through the combination of those three things we are able to teach English, broaden the children’s vocabulary, and also find more than ample opportunities to share the Gospel as well as build Christian character.

 

To date we have seen over 300 decisions since July of 2000. I believe as a result of the constant daily exposure, their hearts become sensitive to spiritual matters and then on “story day” we get to reap what we have sown. To God be the glory!

 

The ministry itself is called the Lighthouse. We chose the name “Lighthouse” because it typified what we wanted to be. We seek to be a ministry of hope - a place where children can come receive Christian values and instruction when they would not have opportunity to hear the Gospel otherwise!

 

Korea is estimated to be approximately 26% Buddhist as of 2007.  Another 26% claim to be Christian.  However, understand that these statistics include many “Christians” who do not hold to sound doctrine or may even be cults.  A staggering 46% of all Koreans now claim to have no religion at all.  It is not that they are atheist – they have simply just never made a choice.  As is true in any nation, most of those who claim to be Christian base their salvation on everything but Christ. We want to be the type of ministry that God can use to offer hope to Korea’s youth.
